The jaw is designed to mimic how your finger and thumb pick things up, and has soft contours and ridges to pick up even small, hard-to-grip items. The jaw can rotate 90 degrees to enable an easier, more secure grip. To rotate the jaw, hold the jaw and collar and pull, rotate the jaw, then push back and secure it in place.
