The Meal Lifter Dining Aid is a new eating aid that raises a dinner plate several inches, reducing the distance from food to mouth. This simple platform assists individuals with uncoordinated movements and promotes dining with dignity. The Meal Lifter Dining Aid is a very simple platform that raises the dinner plate several inches, secures the plate and reduces the distance from food to mouth. This easy to use platform provides a sanitary, secure and dignified alternative to using books or magazines. To use the Meal Lifter, simply rest a 9 inch plate on the top of the aid to achieve easier motion between hand and mouth. Rather than lifting their arm, users simply pivoting on their elbow to move food from the plate to their mouth. The decreased distance makes it easier for users to feed themselves, allowing individuals to be more independent. For low vision users, the platform increases visibility of the plate and helps minimize the amount of food that falls. This adapted dining aid helps users with Parkinsonย’s and Alzheimerย’s, as well as all individuals who have difficulty eating independently due to age, injury, frailty or other physical disabilities to increase their dining independence. The eating aid measures 4.25 inches high, 10.5 inches wide at its base and weighs approximately 3/4 lbs. The Meal Lifter is made of durable molded polypropylene that is dishwasher safe. NOTE: The Meal Lifter Dining Aid is designed specifically to accommodate a 9 inch round plate, which is NOT included. The Maddak Inner Lip Plate CMI74531 and the Skidtrol Non-Skid Bowl CMI74504 both work well with the platform.
